Portable Applications


1. Portable Applications
A portable application is an application that can be run from a local flash drive, local hard drive, a network share, etc.

When applications are installed in Windows, it puts hooks into the Windows Registry that can cause issues.

When applications are installed on a network, network restrictions, permissions, etc., may cause issues.

2. New computer
When one gets a new computer, or moves to another computer, each and every installed application needs to be re-installed and configured on that other computer.

That is, unless you are using portable applications, in which case one can just use that portable software on the other machine.

3. Portable applications
Many applications can be used in a portable manner.

When in doubt, do an Internet search to see.

The following is a list of some of the applications that I have found to work as a portable application.
